Park Hop is a summer long scavenger hunt developed in partnership between LiveWell Greenville’s At Play Workgroup and the parks and recreation agencies throughout Greenville County, South Carolina. Including 19 parks and recreation venues across the county, the scavenger hunt provides an incentive for children and families to visit and answer clues within each park. Families can register throughout the summer and can print their Park Hop scavenger hunt passport online or download the mobile app on their smart phone. At the end of the summer, families turn in their passports in hopes to win one of the wonderful prizes from local organizations that support active living at the Park Hop Closing Celebration.
The Feuerherd family was one of this year’s most dedicated Park Hop participants. Park Hop encouraged them to visit new parks, get active, and have tons of family fun along the way!
“This was such a blessing to our family this year. We are working on improving our health, and decided to check out local parks we had never been to before. A friend mentioned the Park Hop, and it was perfect… The kids were so into the Park Hop. We all loved visiting new places this summer and taking day trips all over Greenville. It was very fun for everyone. We were having so much fun outdoors, that we decided to plan a family camping trip this fall, when the weather was cooler. And THEN, when we attended the closing, we were chosen to win the Paris Mtn. prize pack with a camping weekend! That was the icing on the cake. It was a perfect ending to a fun-filled summer. Thanks for putting this all together to enjoy our beautiful parks, nature of Greenville, and to create an opportunity to improve our overall health.” – Stephanie Fuerherd
