Park Hop Summer Scavenger Hunt

Park HopPark Hop is a free, summer-long scavenger hunt in parks across Greenville County. This scavenger hunt encourages children and families to discover featured parks throughout the summer while searching for answers to clues within each park. Participants can earn local prizes like a LiveWell Greenville swag bag, water park passes, Greenville Drive vouchers, and a Park Hop t-shirt by visiting parks!

Celebrating Park Hop

Park Hop begins in May each year. At the end of the summer, there is a Closing Celebration to recognize Park Hoppers, give away the earned prizes, and draw for grand prize packages. All events are free and have local organizations that support getting outdoors and being active!

Park Hop clues and park locations will be released May 19
#ParkHopFever

This year we are trying something a little different. Instead of an Opening Celebration we are having a Photo Contest. The contest starts on May 19 and runs until May 31.

Park Hop Photo Contest

  • Take a picture of yourself, a friend or family member participating in Park Hop
  • Use the hashtag #ParkHopFever on Facebook and/or Instagram (to ensure that we see your post, please make sure your account is not private)
  • With each post, your name will be entered for a prize
  • Wear a Park Hop t-shirt in the post and your name will be entered twice

At the Closing Celebration, we will recognize all of the Park Hoppers and give away the earned prizes for participating in the Park Hop scavenger hunt. The Closing Celebration is free and open to all, regardless of their participation in Park Hop. The Closing Celebration will be in the beginning of August. Check back here for further information.

Scavenger Hunt

There are two ways to get your FREE Park Hop passport: a mobile app or a printable passport. Below are directions on how to get each version of the passport and how to submit clues. Click ‘Learn More’ to choose which method you prefer to use this summer and follow the directions provided.

GET THE MOBILE APP

The mobile version of the Park Hop scavenger hunt is housed under the iOnGreenville mobile app.

For Apple (iPhone) users, download the iOnGreenville app on your mobile device from the Apple Store for free. Here is a picture of the iOnGreenville app in the Apple Store.

For Android users, download the iOnGreenville app on your mobile device from Google Play for free. Here is a picture of the iOnGreenville app in Google Play.

Once you have downloaded the mobile app, you will be prompted to register for the scavenger hunt. Just provide your name, a valid e-mail address, and the number and age of the children who will be participating (this information will be used for prizes at the end of the summer).

Until May 19th, you can explore the Frequently Asked Questions or More Info on the app. On May 19th, the Park Hop locations and clues will be opened. Click on the ‘Clues’ button in the app to discover the list of parks in the scavenger hunt this year, sorted by location. There is also a ‘get directions’ button where you can get directions to each park.

Once you are at the park location, the clues will unlock and you can find the answers. You will receive a confirmation before you submit each answer to confirm that’s the answer you want to give. When your answers are submitted you will see a green check mark appear.

Be sure to use the social media buttons found on the confirmation page to share your Park Hop adventures! Your name will be submitted for a prize for each social media post through the app. Be sure to use the tag #parkhopfever.

TIPS:
The app works best if you have the latest software on your phone, so complete your updates before you download the app to minimize difficulty.

If you already have the iOnGreenville app, make sure all app updates have been completed. If you used the mobile app last year, you will need to register again – we start fresh every summer!

PHOTOBOOTH:

We encourage all of our Park Hop participants to share their photos via the app. Look for the Photo Booth button under the Park Hop mini-app. Once there, sharing your photo is easy:

1) Take Your Photo. A different filter will be applied at each park location!

2) Enter Your Email Address into the form.

3) Post your photo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all your other social networks using the hashtag #ParkHopFever

LiveWell does not store your photos or share any of your information collected via the apps.

GET THE PAPER PASSPORT

Would you rather use paper and pencil? We have you covered! Fill out the form below to register and receive the printable passport. You can register before May 19th, but you will have the passport e-mailed to you that day!

To get the paper passport, click here.

HOW TO SUBMIT PAPER PASSPORT

Write out the answers to the clues as you visit the parks. For the printable passport, you can submit your answers in two ways:

  • 1) Complete the Passport survey when you have completed your Park Hop.  Wait until you have completed all the clues you want and complete the survey to submit your final answers. It is the exact same questions as the passport, so you just write your answers in! If you complete ONE survey, you can credit those answers to multiple children that have participated. Click HERE to complete the Passport Survey.
  • 2) Mail in your passport to LiveWell Greenville, P.O. Box 2284, Greenville, SC 29602

The 2017 Park Hop locations will be displayed starting May 19th. Download the Mobile App Passport or Paper Passport to start your journey!
