Park Hop

Park Hop is a free, summer-long scavenger hunt in parks across Greenville County.
This adventure-themed scavenger hunt encourages children and families to discover featured parks throughout the summer while searching for answers to clues within each.

Celebrating Park Hop

Please visit our Eventbrite page for all the details about the 2016 Park Hop Closing Event and sign up if you plan to attend!  http://bit.ly/29RhdLc

Park Hop is celebrated through two community events each summer. The Kick-Off Celebration, held in mid-May each year, marks the release of the park locations and clues. All of Greenville County’s parks and recreation departments and local organizations come together to host a community event with fun activities for all to enjoy. At the end of the summer, there is a Closing Celebration to recognize all of the Park Hoppers, give away the earned prizes (e.g., t-shirt), and draw for our other community prize packages. All events are free and have local organizations that support getting outdoors and being active!

The 2016 Park Hop Kick-Off Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 14th at Sunset Park from 1:00-4:00. Sunset Park is located at 211 Fowler Circle, Greenville, SC 29607.

Anyone is welcome but we encourage registration so we can plan accordingly. Register for free here:

The event will feature an on-site scavenger hunt, activities with all of the parks and recreation departments across Greenville, inflatable batting cage from the Greenville Drive, inflatable archery with Cabela’s and much more! We will also be giving away prizes to local places like the Greenville Zoo and Greenville Drive!

Scavenger Hunt

There are two FREE ways to get your Park Hop passport: a mobile app or a printable passport. Below are directions on how to get each version of the passport and how to submit the clues. Click on ‘Learn More’ to choose which method you would like to use this summer and follow the directions provided.

The mobile version of the Park Hop scavenger hunt is housed under the iOnGreenville mobile app.

For Apple (iPhone) users, download the iOnGreenville app on your mobile device from the Apple Store for free. Here is a picture of the iOnGreenville app in the Apple Store.

For Android users, download the iOnGreenville app on your mobile device from Google Play for free. Here is a picture of the iOnGreenville app in Google Play.

Once you have downloaded the mobile app, you will be prompted to register for the scavenger hunt. Just provide your name, a valid e-mail address, and the number, age of the children that will be participating (this information will be used for prizes at the end of the summer).

Until May 14th, you can explore the Frequently Asked Questions or More Info on the app. On May 14th, the Park Hop locations and clues will be opened. Click on the ‘Clues’ button in the app, and you will see the list of parks, sorted by those in closest vicinity. There is also a ‘get directions’ button where you can get directions to the park.

Once you are at the park location, the clues will unlock and you can find the answers. You will receive a confirmation before you submit each answer to confirm that’s the answer you wanted to give. Once you have answered that clue, your answers are submitted and you should see a green check mark appear.

Be sure to use the social media buttons found on the confirmation page and this year to share your Park Hop adventures!

App downloads work best if you have the latest software on your phone, so complete your updates to minimize difficulty.

If you already have the iOnGreenville app, make sure all app updates have been completed. If you used the mobile app last year, you will need to register again – we started fresh for this summer!

New for 2016! This year we encourage all of our Park Hop participants to share their photos via the apps. Look for the new new Photo Booth button under the Park Hop mini-app. Once there, sharing your photo is easy:

1) Take Your Photo. A filter will be applied different park locations!

2) Enter Your Email Address into the form

3) Post your photo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all your other social networks using the hashtag #ParkHopFever

LiveWell does not store your photos or share any of your information collected via the apps.

Would you rather use paper and pencil? We have you covered! Fill out the form below to register and receive the printable passport. You can register before May 14th, but you will have the passport e-mailed to you that day!

Please enter a value between 0 and 100.

Write out the answers to the clues as you visit the parks. For the printable passport, you can submit your answers in two ways:

  • 1) Complete the Passport survey when you have completed your Park Hop.  Wait until you have completed all the clues you want and complete the survey to submit your final answers. It is the exact same questions as the passport, so you just write your answers in! If you complete ONE survey, you can credit those answers to multiple children that have participated. Click HERE to complete the Passport Survey.
  • 2) Mail in your passport to LiveWell Greenville, P.O. Box 2284, Greenville, SC 29602

How do I get my prizes?

We give away the prizes at the Park Hop Closing Celebration. You must be present to win the prize drawings (not the earned prizes for 5, 10, 15 parks). If you cannot be present for the Closing Celebration but earned prizes based on visiting 5, 10, or 15 parks, we will set up two prize pick-up days at a local community center in August.
