HHS Awards $1.5M to Advance Equity in Public Health

A strategic partnership between three non-profit organizations and two universities has received a grant award of $1.5 million dollars from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Office of Minority Health (OMH). The collaboration, named the Equity in Public Health Initiative (EPHI), aims to improve the health of Black and Hispanic individuals living in Greenville County by addressing policies and practices that contribute to structural racism and perpetuate health inequities.

The Food Equity Action Board shares its policy recommendations for food equity in Greenville County

Greenville County Food Equity Action Board (FEAB), made up of 14 residents from neighborhoods across Greenville County, met for nine two-hour sessions between November 2021 and March 2022 to connect, learn, and develop these policy recommendations.

This is a joint position with Prisma Health aimed at helping families of pediatric patients connect with local services and supports that address food and housing insecurity.
